Duane Frank

Duane Carl Frank, 66, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the Loring Hospital of an apparent heart attack.

Duane was born April 18, 1938, on the family farm near Carnarvon, Iowa, the son of Carl and Minnie (Buse) Frank. He attended country school and graduated from Lake View High School in 1956.

Duane was baptized on May 8, 1938, and confirmed on February 24, 1952, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Ulmer, Iowa. After Peace Lutheran Church was closed he transferred his membership to Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Lake View where he was an active member serving on the finance committee. On August 2, 1959, Duane was united in marriage to Sue Griffin at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two children: Jeff and Laura.

Duane farmed his entire life. After his marriage he enjoyed pitching softball. He also enjoyed playing golf, having breakfast with the guys, traveling, gardening, and cooking. He especially enjoyed his visits with his grandchildren.

Duane is survived by his wife, Sue; son, Jeff and his wife Wendy of Ankeny, IA; daughter, Laura Buckingham and her husband Dave of Highlands Ranch, CO; four grandchildren: Alex Frank of Ankeny, IA, Steven, Sarah, and Megan Buckingham of Highlands Ranch, CO; and a sister Delores Lucht and her husband Kenneth of Lake View, IA.

His parents and an infant sister, Evangeline Frank, preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Duane will be Monday, May 17, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View, with Rev. James Travis officiating. There will be special music by Jon Frank, soloist, accompanied by Nancy Fertig. Flower arrangements will be taken care of by Gert Drost and Alice Koessel. Pallbearers include: Dale Lucht, Michael Lucht, Alan Segebart, Earl Hanson, Wayne Lietz, and Greg Hawley. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 16th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View. Friends who wish to send condolences may do so online.
