Dwayne Churchill
Visitation will be Monday, December 6th, 5:00-8:00 pm, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View. Dwayne Edward Churchill, age 77, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. He was born June 30, 1927, at Gravity, Iowa, the son of Orie and Rachel (Levi) Churchill. He attended country school in Gravity and on October 17, 1976, Dwayne was united in marriage to Jo Ann Gregory in a beautiful wedding in Carnarvon, Iowa. Dwayne never really retired, he loved to stay busy, and through the years worked as a maintenance worker for Ferd Hansen Implement in Sac City, I. B. P. in Storm Lake, National Oats in Wall Lake, Wiedemeier’s in Carroll, and Four Seasons Car Wash in Lake View. Dwayne was a hard worker, it wasn’t like him to sit around, he was always doing something. You could see him many times tending the yard, making everything outside beautiful as he loved his flowers and grew beautiful roses. Dwayne was a wonderful Christian man who loved the Lord, a small man with a big heart. He loved to spend time with the kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Wall Lake Baptist Church and served as an usher and bell ringer. He loved to visit with friends and neighbors along the way; nobody was a stranger to him. All who knew him, especially his family, will miss this man. He loved the church and the Lord. Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Jo Ann Churchill; his daughter Diana Johnson of Bentonville, AR; stepdaughters: Connie Ludwig and her husband Mark of Breda, IA, Joyce York and her husband Ed of Humboldt, IA, Jan Sorensen and her husband Robert of Ft. Meyers, FL; stepson Tim Livingood and his wife Lisa of Marshall, MN; and son-in-law Gary Berger of Rockwell City, IA. Others who will cherish his memory are his sixteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother Orval “Jack” Churchill of Council Bluffs, IA; and two sisters: Eva Wikehoff and husband Rex of Bedford, IA, and Mildred Starkett of Des Moines, IA; many nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of friends. Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Bill and Harold; three sisters: Doris, Margaret, and Edna; and two stepsons: Mike and Eddie Livingood. |
