Carol Vincent

Carol Ann Vincent, age 64, of Sac City, Iowa passed away at her home on Thursday, September 16, 2004, surrounded by her loving family.

Carol Ann Johnson was born July 31, 1940, on a farm near Nemaha, Iowa in Delaware Township. She was the daughter of Alve O. and Gladys V. (Fyfe) Johnson. Carol was baptized in the Baptist faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sac City.
She grew up on the family farm north of town in Douglas Township, attending the township country school. She went on to graduate from the Sac City Community High School in 1958. Following graduation she attended flight attendant school in Kansas City, but was never employed as a flight attendant.

On January 8, 1982, Carol was united in marriage to Jim Vincent in Sac City, Iowa. The couple moved to Boone, Iowa in 1984 and later moved to Gifford, Illinois in May of 1988 returning to Sac City in June of 2000.

Over the years she owned her own fabric store, was an executive secretary at Noble’s, was district manager for Heartland Subsidized Housing in Boone. While living in Illinois she held worked at several locations retiring in 1996.

Her interests included. doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, having dinners with friends and visiting the grandchildren.

She fought a brave battle against breast cancer since 1988, beating the many odds against her.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; her children and their spouses: Jon and Angie Russell of Paxton, Illinois, Shannon and Bruce Mazza of Denver, Colorado; her step son Shawn Vincent and his wife Charlotte of Gainesville, Texas; and three grandchildren Duncan and Peyton Mazza and Jamie Vincent. Other survivors include her brother Virgil Johnson and his wife Ann of Sac City, Iowa; extended family and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Alve and Gladys Johnson: her brother, Darrell Johnson: and step sons: Rick and Kevin Vincent.

Funeral services for Carol will be held Sunday, September 19th, 2:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Sac City, with Reverend Dean McPherson officiating. Pallbearers include: Harry Clow, Tom Hakes, Earl Rock, Clifford Graybill, Neal Johnson, and Dale Peterson. Burial will be at the Lanesboro Cemetery in Lanesboro, Iowa, under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is Saturday, September 18th, 6:00-8:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.
