Carolyn Crowe

Carolyn Joan Crowe, age 72, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2004, at her home in Wall Lake. Carolyn was born on May 19, 1931, the daughter of Orville Kenneth and Madge Dolores (Haradon) Hubbert. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Christian Church in Sac City. She attended Sac City schools graduating in 1948 from Sac City High School and continued her education with two years at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.

On June 29, 1951, Carolyn and Lyle Eugene Crowe, Jr. were united in marriage at Jackson, Minnesota. To this union four children were born: Patrick Eugene, Carolyn Ann, Timothy Charles, and Amy Lois.

Over the years Carolyn worked as a teacher, bus driver, and a secretary at the Wall Lake Community School until her retirement in 1996. She enjoyed golfing and reading but especially enjoyed her summers at Okoboji and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Patrick Crowe of Coon Rapids, MN, Ann Eddy and her husband Lee of Huxley, IA, Timothy and his wife Pam of Florence, MT, and Amy Barr and her husband Matthew of Ames, IA; six grandchildren: Peggy Crowe, Paige and Adam Eddy, Mark Crowe, Julie Holtkamp and Leslie Pounder; a sister Algerine “Sally” Hubbert, and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Crowe in October of 1997; her parents: Orville and Madge Hubbert; and her brothers Glen and Wilbur Hubbert.

Graveside memorial service will be held Friday, February 27th, 2:00 p.m. at the Wall Lake Cemetery with Reverend Donald Gibson officiating under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.
