David Fredericksen

Dr. David William Fredericksen
April 29, 1943 – October 16, 2003

Dave was born in Denver, Colorado, and reared in the community of Newell, Iowa. There he attended school, as well as many extra-curricular activities. He loved gourmet cooking. David received his Baccalaureate from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. He then taught high school science in Bayard. Afterwards, he attended Iowa State University, where he earned his Masters and Doctorate in parisitology. David retired from the Upper Mohawk Valley Regional Water Authority in Utica, New York, and moved back to New Orleans, LA. David, a former biology professor at Tulane University, lost his fight with cancer at Memorial Medical Center (Baptist Campus). He was 60 years old.

Survivors include his wife, Meredith Sugg of New Orleans; his mother Alice (Williams) Fredericksen of Sac City, IA; two daughters, Melanie Linder and Julie Speer. Melanie lives in Kyle, TX, with her husband Charles and their children, Joshua, Janie, and Sam. Julie and her family, husband Jason and son Alex Moran, live in Ashburn, VA. David also leaves a brother, Alan Fredericksen and his family of Flagstaff, AZ; two sisters: Marilee Kleespies and family of Rolfe, and Jonelle Chapman and her family of North Platte, NE.

Davis was preceded in death by his dad, Don Fredericksen in October 1991.

A memorial services was held at the Tulane Chapel on November 23, 2003.

Memorial services for David will be held Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Nemaha, IA, at 1:30 pm, with Reverend Karl Schiltz officiating. Carol Hansen will accompany Russ Davis with special music. Burial will be at the Elk Township Cemetery in Alta, Iowa. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
