Chester Edward Hanson, age 93, of Lytton, IA, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at the Christian Community Home in Osceola, WI. Chet was born on August 6, 1918, second eldest son of Edward and Emma Petersen Hanson in Webster County. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Callender. He attended Webster County country school and Callender High School.

He served his country in the United States Infantry in the South Pacific from 1942-1945 during World War II. He was awarded four Bronze Stars for his service in the Papuan, New Guinea, South Philippines and Luzon Campaigns, a Good Conduct Medal, and Distinguished Unit Badge.

On July 19, 1947, Chet was united in marriage to Iris Jean Jones at Lytton. They farmed in Webster, Calhoun and Sac Counties until 1982 when he retired from farming. They moved into Lytton in 1972. Chet worked part time for the town of Lytton for several years. In 2006 Chet moved to St. Croix Falls, WI to be closer to his daughter.

He was a member of the Lytton Presbyterian Church where he served terms as elder and deacon.

Survivors include son, Wallace Hanson; daughter Sherry Lynn Hanson of Osceola, WI; brothers: Warren Hanson of Sherman Oaks, CA, and Ed Hanson of Algona, IA. Preceding him in death was his wife Iris; his parents; daughter Susan Rose; and brothers: Henry, Leo and Dale.
