Gail Garnet Weltzheimer, daughter of Samuel Frederick and Jesse Eretta (Breon) Weltzheimer was born May 10, 1917, at her home near Fonda, IA. She was the youngest of eleven children and lived in the Fonda and Varina area while she was growing up. Her mother died when she was only eight years old, and her older sisters and brothers helped her father care for her. She attended and graduated from 8th grade in Fonda. The family later moved to Sac City where she met Ernest Myers. They were married on September 12, 1938, at the Myers home. Ernest and Gail were blessed with six children which they raised in the Sac City area.

Gail was avid homemaker and gardener staying home to raise the children until the youngest was in school. She worked at the corn canning factory and Priebes egg plant in Sac City until they moved to the Alta area in the late 1970ís. She then worked at Vilas turkey processing company until they moved to Bentonville, Arkansas to retire and enjoy the warmer climate. They were able to do some traveling and enjoy other family that also lived in the area.

Ernest passed away on March 16, 2001, as a result of a car accident, just two weeks before they were to move into their first brand new house. Gail lived in the new house for four years before moving to assisted living at Twilight Acres in Wall Lake, IA on June 1, 2005, where she has resided since. She enjoyed many new enjoyable experiences, including being chosen Valentine Queen in 2006. Her health declined in the last two years, and she passed away as the result of a severe stroke on December 30, 2011 at Loring Hospital.
